Scale Free Systems / Component Technology

System Components.
Equipment-Level Protection.

Physics-based commercial and industrial water treatment, configured around your cooling towers, chillers, boilers and critical heat-transfer equipment.

Explore the role of the SFS controller, probe and grounding arrangement, along with the supporting components selected for each installation.

The SFS Approach

We Treat the Equipment.
Not the Water.

Scale Free Systems focuses on the electrical environment at equipment surfaces where scale adhesion and corrosion affect performance. The component package is selected around the mechanical system, its operating conditions and its treatment requirements.

The result is an equipment-focused approach supported by inspection, service and application-specific water management.

Core Technology

Three Components at the Center of the System

The controller, probe and grounding arrangement form the foundation of the SFS equipment-level treatment approach. Final connections and component specifications are established for the application.

SFS Controller

The controller provides the control interface for the installed SFS system. Its configuration and connections support the equipment-level electrical treatment approach.

Control functions, indicators and service checks depend on the specified unit and installation.

Component roleSystem control and operational oversight.

Treatment Probe

The probe provides an electrical interface with the circulating water in the protected system. It is part of the arrangement SFS uses to address electrical conditions associated with equipment surfaces.

Probe selection and placement depend on the equipment, piping arrangement and installation design.

Component roleElectrical interface within the circulating system.

Dedicated Grounding Arrangement

The specified grounding arrangement is part of the SFS electrical design and provides the intended connection to earth.

Grounding, bonding and connections must follow approved installation details and applicable electrical requirements.

Application-Specific Components

Supporting the Complete Treatment Program

Additional components are selected according to system needs. These functions are distinct from the core controller, probe and grounding arrangement.

Concentration Management

Conductivity & Blowdown

Where specified, conductivity measurement and blowdown controls help manage dissolved-solids concentration in evaporative systems.

Operating targets are selected for the application and reviewed during service.

Physical Removal

Filtration & Solids Management

Suspended particles and accumulated debris require a removal plan. Depending on the installation, this may include filtration, separation, blowdown or scheduled cleaning.

Minerals and debris leave through physical removal processes; they are not carried into the ground through the electrical connection.

Biological Control

Copper-Silver Ionization

Where included in the project scope, copper-silver ionization provides a separate biological-control function within the overall treatment program.

Monitoring, operating targets and any supplemental treatment are coordinated with the facility’s water-management requirements.

Selection, Installation & Service

Start With the Equipment. Verify in Operation.

Component selection begins with understanding the system. Ongoing service then evaluates both component operation and conditions in the protected equipment.

Application Review

  • Equipment type, capacity and operating temperatures
  • System volume, recirculating flow and piping layout
  • Metallurgy and existing equipment condition
  • Water characteristics and treatment history
  • Existing electrical and mechanical controls
